The Clockwork Beast

It all started from here, a pile of leftover from cleaning out the crankshaft for the Iron Table .
These pieces are just asking to be used for something, and with vigorous cleaning they showed themselves to be worthy of attention.

So here are the key players for this project, the bearing housing, clock machinery and a broken wristwatch.

I never said I do these things without help :)

Here's the machinery stacked down. The plastic clockwork had to be melted and carved to actually fit inside the beast.

The face of the wristwatch needed some filing to fit in where the glass used to be.

And old plane came to rescue as the base for the clock and mated with an electrical one to get straight.

The plane received some rust oil and truly appreciated it!

The assebly.

The clock from behind. A rubber disc happened to have a perfect fit as a lid that can be removed for tweaking the time.

The Clockwork Beast, at your service.

Chairways to heaven

What a beauty for a wreck of a chair!
I was granted this amazing artifact from a benefactor mentioned in the story of the  Iron Table
so thanks for making all this possible :)

So the idea I had was to mix this golden backrest on it, soo-oo the question is.. Will it blend?

A custom peg from a drumstick and a first fit... I've created a monster! :D

Little bit of adjustments to the backrest and the angle of the chair, since the golden piece was simply too wide from the shoulders.

Then closing all the cracks to make it last, and replacing every missing piece of wood with brass.

Scraping off rust from an iron thingy to get some tone to the golden paint to make the backrest to look just little less like plastic.

Then getting things together and adding a surface finishing by oiling the iron thingy to get the color of the rust to the oily rag to give the chair a reddish tan!

Selecting some pieces for the small drink-stand neccessary for this kind of chairs...

Peeling of the original faux-leather coating and saving these decent fillings.
I will just add little bit more cotton and a thick slab of hemp fiber for vigorous softness, and then I was gonna cover it with...

This!
Ha-ha.. I just have to try.. I have never seen a furniture with fur and even thou this fine fur coat has been in our kin much longer than me, nobody is willing to wear it..
Honestly I have no idea how will it be like as an upholstery fabric.. feminine, posh, upscale, porny...? We'll see!

Saluting the fusion with an old electric wire.

Commemorating the leftovers.

So what do you think, does fur and steampunk go together?

Exposed!

First time out there in the open! Recycling Factory was my first exhibition and this it what happened.

With the help of friends and relatives the assembly of the compartment went good! I got free extra space to bring in the floating bed for people to try, and many were really excited about it.
I also got wonderfull feedback about my other works, though the revenuea was not something to brag about...

At sunday I also participated to a Trashion clothing contests as a Airship mechanic, when the others were making up, I was still sewing my costume, since I was so busy with the whole event.
The theme was a "uniform hero" and the contest called Trash Queen! (Propably as Drag Queen.. kinda queer..)
Well quess they haven't had much male participants before :)
I also participated to Eko Design 2013 Contest with this lamp and happened to win it! Thanks to everybody voting for it in facebook!

And since the award was given to me same time the Trashion contest ended I was there on the stage all dressed up!
It means next year is for free, though they brilliantly typoed the date on that diploma, wording out that the free year was supposedly 2013(after paying it months ago).

Then after a hour we got to hear the results for the clothing contest!
I was the winner for the audience votes, and got the best points for the judges on the clothes and creativity etc. but miserably failed the hair and make up!

So the girls on the left collected the pot of the Queen, quess thats fine :D
I had fun time being dressed up steamp punkish while people where looking at me like I was crazy! :)

Rusty and gorgeous!

Now look at this! I received this awesome gift pack from a friend with a farm, a pile of iron thingies!

And just a few days before I bought this massive 85cm circular saw blade from a junk store, I figured out all this would go nicely together.

So first I took out all the bearings from the crankshaft and made some holes with threads for bolts to acquire good and removable couplings, since the finished table would not be moved easily as one piece.

Then I comissioned a steel working company to drill a 28mm hole for the old weed cutter for horses to have it as a steady table top.

They also lathe this iron cylinder for me to make a nice connection for the two lowest parts of the table.

I brushed the dirt out and oiled all the iron to have a nice surface.

And cut and moved the original crank of the weed cutter  upside down to hold the table top steady.

Left the flywheel for the legs and polished all the surfaces with several pieces of old sheet.

Here's the cutie, ready to serve as a table!
Wellcome to check it out in few days to the Recycling factory!
