The One-Year-Old Pirate!

This amazing pile of staff came to me as a gift from my brother and it took a while to figure out to do a pirateship with it! 

 Here are rolls from old wooden mangle, doors from a cabinet, door pieces from a cabin and handrails from chairs.

 By adding this there's enough for a ship, two pieces of drift wood from the river, horce collar and a wooden slab.

 Our baby helped with the craft and design and we planned to finish by her first birthday.

The main structure is like a box with the rolls helping to move it around.

The prow came out of the drift wood pieces and the bottom of the ship got the arch from the handrails,

 This old core of a wheel helped to raise the cockpit to a decent level.

 And the doors became really stylish pirateship cargo doors, the horse collar wonderful boaw of a ship.

 

Old cutting board transformed to be a nice frame for this old brass ship window.

Pair of rows for the edges and the mast.

 

And here it is, the ship as a cabinet, essential function for off play.

 The amazing steering wheel (and an amazing pirate) our baby got for the ship from friends as birthday present.

The Artillery of Art

Planning for a simple rack! A piece of hard wood with figure, a wooden bowl from my past grandma and a small army of  cylinders from the junk yard.

 After splitting the bowl in half, I made more challenging cut to get the figures to match.

Then after attaching turrets I sliced the scraps in to small squers to hide the screws and to give a finished look.

 And then made a proper holdings...

 for hanging it on the wall.

The Space Monkey

I was helping out in my friends farm to move a pile of junk when the beauty of some of the pieces of iron caught my attention.

Since there was good ground for building a creature I just went for it starting from the head.

 Then  I welded it to the body..

And the rest followed.

The Angel of the Shipwreck

 I got the permission from a friend to wrip these arches off from and old rowboat decomposing at their yard, and since the rest of the boat was rotten I was not quite sure would this material be appropriapte.

 well, the wood turned out to be stout and the idea came to me of making these a big coat rack by simply placing the arches across.

 So I cut the ends to have it sit flat.

Made the joints for a perfect union.

 Added fasteners and some old furniture springs I received from a furniture renovator,

 as well as some old furniture ornaments, and oiled the surface to get it glow.

And there the Angel of the Shipwreck greets the passers by.

The Clockwork Beast

It all started from here, a pile of leftover from cleaning out the crankshaft for the Iron Table . 

These pieces are just asking to be used for something, and with vigorous cleaning they showed themselves to be worthy of attention.

 So here are the key players for this project, the bearing housing, clock machinery and a broken wristwatch.

 I never said I do these things without help :)

 Here's the machinery stacked down. The plastic clockwork had to be melted and carved to actually fit inside the beast.

 The face of the wristwatch needed some filing to fit in where the glass used to be.

 And old plane came to rescue as the base for the clock and mated with an electrical one to get straight.

 The plane received some rust oil and truly appreciated it!

 The clock from behind. A rubber disc happened to have a perfect fit as a lid that can be removed for tweaking the time.
